One of South Bangalore’s more popular locations, BTM Layout gets its name from its geographical position. Situated between Byrasandra, Tavarekere and Madivala Layout, the abbreviation-BTM– not only rolled off the tongue and seemed more convenient, but is also now more preferred by locals than its official name Kuvembunagara. With a residential area covering over 2.13 sq. kms, BTM Layout has two main stages- the 1st and 2nd Stage- separated by the Outer Ring Road. With saturation of all localities around BTM– namely Koramangala, Jayanagar and Bannerghatta Road, BTM Layout is now favored by buyers for its residential atmosphere that South Bangalore is so known for and more. Here are a few reasons why we think you should consider BTM Layout.
You’re A Foodie
Koramangala might be South-Bangalore’s food hub, but BTM comes in a very close second. With the regular options Faasos, Momoz and Café Coffee Day and more as options, BTM also has restaurants like Little Italy, Punjabi By Nature, Marwa, Malabar Bay, Soho St. Absolute Barbeque and cafés like Mudpipe Café. For more options, one could always head to Koramangala, which is less than 4 kms away from BTM.
When it comes to nightlife, BTM doesn’t disappoint. If you’d like to hit the pub or a lounge very close to home, there are options like Zengi Pub & Restaurant, Zanzibar, Invitation Bar & Restaurant, Gallop Bar, and The Hub – Ibis Hotel.
You Like Sleeping Until Late
If you’re the kind of person who’d like to hit the snooze on your alarm atleast 5 times before you manage to roll out of bed, then having a home very close to your office space is a necessity. BTM offers convenience and connectivity in this regard. IT-populated Bannerghatta Road is 2 km away, while Koramangala, the hub of startups, is 3 km away.
Outer Ring Road is barely 1 km away from BTM, leading to all the IT-hubs of the city. For those having their offices towards the centre of the city, regular BMTC buses from BTM, and particularly Bannerghatta Main Road go towards MG Road (7 km away) and Majestic (10 km away). BTM itself also has offices of companies such as HCL, Espirit, Cranes Software, QTech Solutions and more. You Like Public Transportation
Driving around Bangalore is not quite convenient given its notorious traffic jams. Public transportation in Bangalore isn’t just a better option, but also relatively more efficient than most other cities. BTM Layout has several bus stops with regular buses going to the city and around South Bangalore.
The more popular of these bus stops include BTM bus stop, BTM water tank and Mahadeshvara Layout Bus Stop. Bannerghatta Main Road bus stop, right opposite Gopalan Innovation Mall, has regular buses to the airport, which is an hour and 27 minutes away on a regular day with traffic. The central railway station, meanwhile, is 45 minutes from BTM Layout.
You Have A Family
South Bangalore is known for its safe residential environment. A residential space requires good social infrastructure. BTM Layout doesn’t just have a lot of independent homes that make it seem like a picket-fence-home-like neighborhood, but also caters to every homely need.
Hypermarkets and supermarkets in every neighborhood, along with malls like Vega City Mall, Gopalan Innovation Mall and a little ahead, Meenakshi Mall offer plenty of entertainment and shopping options for residents. Garuda Mall on Magrath Road is about 30 minutes away from BTM, but is a very popular choice on weekends.
Retail outlets, inclusive of national and international brands, such as Mom & Me, Unilet, Lenskart, Peter England and more offer a range of choices.
When it comes to healthcare, BTM has a range of multispecialty and general hospitals like Life Care Hospital, Venkateshwara Hospital, Vittal Mallya Scientific Research Foundation, Spurthy Hospital, Karanth Speciality Hospital and Fortis Hospital on Bannerghatta Road. Almost every street has a medical store and there are also a few Ayurvedic stores and Homeopathic clinic.
You Like Heading Out On Weekends
Apart from several multiplexes, the more popular being Gopalan Cinemas, PVR Cinemas, Cinepolis and Inox, BTM Layout is a gateway to popular weekend hangouts like Koramangala, Brigade Road and even Bannerghatta Road.
If you’ve an adventurous streak, then there’s the Madiwala Lake and the Bannerghatta National Park. Kanakapura Main Road, which is an hour away from BTM, also has regular mountain biking and regular nature adventure camps.
You Don’t Mind A Little Traffic (For Now)
BTM Layout is in close proximity to Madivala, Outer Ring Road, KSR Layout, JP Nagar, and Jaya Nagar as well as Electronic City and ITPL. Bannerghatta Main Road, ORR, Hosur Road, Madivala Road and Tavarekere Main Road pass through and/or connect to BTM Layout and most of these roads are traffic-heavy. Peak hour rush and the occasional rain-driven traffic included, BTM can get a bit traffic dense.
Infrastructure projects to deal with this issue are, hence,much-needed and currently, are under planning. Phase 1 of Namma Metro’s Green Line is set to have stations at South End Circle, Jayanagar, Banashankari and Rashtriya Vidyalaya Road and all of these stations are within 5 km of BTM Layout. Phase 2 under the East West New Line will have stations at RV Road and Bommasandra.
You Have Kids or Are A Student
Education is the next most important thing that brings people to BTM, after IT and software companies. Schools like Orchids the International School, Shantiniketan Trust School, VIBGYOR High School, St Thomas Aquinas School and IQRA International School are popular in the area.
Higher education options include the famous Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, Alliance University, Imperial College of Business Studies, and St. John’s Medical College. A lot of students from Christ University also decide to find a home in BTM Layout.

If all the above reasons have convinced you enough, it would be interesting to know that the micro-market also happens to be one of the most sought after localities in Bangalore. With demands for the rental market going up, it’s a good investment option as well, if not for a home.
The more popular builders in this area include Brigade, SNN, Adarsh and more.
Rashi Pride by Rashi Developers is located in the 6th phase of BTM Layout and offers 48 units of 2 & 3 BHK apartments. Anand Krishna Residency offers 1&2BHK apartments complete with all modern amenities. Both these projects offer basic necessities and affordable homes.
